"Located, in northwest Africa, Morocco is bordered, by Algeria to the east, Mauritania to the south, Western Sahara in the south-west, the Atlantic Ocean to the west and the Mediterranean Sea north. The northern tip of the country is separated from Spain by the Strait of Gibraltar, off 8 km away. Moroccan territory also has two Spanish enclaves, the cities of Ceuta and Melilla, both located on a small peninsula on the Mediterranean coast
The topography of Morocco is mostly mountainous. The country has four major mountain ranges: the Rif, along the Mediterranean coast, with peaks rising to almost 2000 m, the Upper and Middle Atlas, center, and the Anti-Atlas, south-west . It's in the High Atlas that is the highest peak in North Africa, Jebel Toubkal (4165 m). River valleys that criss-cross these mountains are among the most fertile areas of the country. South of the mountains lies the Sahara desert
In Morocco, the climate varies depending on latitude, altitude and proximity to the sea more you away from the coast, plus it is hot and dry, and the temperature differences are great. In plain, it is very hot summer and cold and wet winter, in the mountains, summers are hot and winters cold and snowy. Atlas Mountains stop the moist winds from the Atlantic, where the desert climate of southern regions. Sahara receives almost no rain.
